Do:

° Aid The Injured. If you are less injured than someone else, try to render assistance if possible.
° Move your car to safety if there are no injuries. If there are no injuries, it is okay and required that you move your car out of traffic. If there are injuries, turn on your flashers and raise your hood if possible to alert other motorists of your presence.
° Always call the police. Do not rely on the other driver’s statement that the police do not need to be involved.
° Get the other drivers information. Ask to see a copy of his driver's license and insurance card. Get names, addresses, date of birth, insurance company name, policy numbers, etc.
° Let police know if you are injured. If you are injured, be sure to tell the police officer that you are injured. If you are not sure whether you are injured, tell the police officer you do not know. Many times, soreness and pain will not manifest itself until hours after the accident because of adrenaline in your system.
° Take Photos. Keep a disposable camera in your car and make pictures of the accident scene if possible. If it's not possible, you can always return to the scene and take accident photos.
° Get Witness Names. If you are able, get the names, addresses, and telephone numbers of witnesses to the incident. This includes passengers that may have been in the other car. Do not rely on the police officer to do it for you. If you have friends or family that show up at the scene, have them do it for you.
° Call Soto & Tharpe as soon as possible so that we may assist you.
